Primary Hip Hop Performance

Pink Shirt Day

Wednesday, February 29th is Pink Shirt Day. Students and staff are asked to wear pink and to bring in a toonie. If the student is unable to wear pink, full uniform is required.

Pink shirt day was originally started as a protest against a bullying incident at a Nova Scotia high school (Central Kings Rural High). The original event was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price, two senior students who took a stand against a freshman student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. They bought and distributed 50 pink shirts to students who also took a stand against bullying. This act of leadership provides a great example to our OLM students.

TravelSmart

The TravelSmart program now being delivered to Our Lady of Mercy Elementary is a whole school sustainable and active transportation program that educates students about the impacts of transportation to our health and the earth. It is also a student leadership program offered to select students in grades 5-7. This program is sponsored by TransLink and is fully funded so there is no cost to participating schools. See the attached flyer for more information.
